Destination Farm opened in May 2012. It combines the experience and knowledge of Suzannah Cornue and Natalie Hollis. The two women have had the goal of opening their own eventing facility for a long time and are very excited about combining their efforts into Destination Farm and the bright future it has!
SUZ grew up in Central NY, riding in the hunt seat circuit and foxhunting with the Lime Creek Hunt Club. While obtaining her B.S. in Equine Science and Management from SUNY Morrisville, she managed two farms. After graduating in 2007, Suz moved to Maryland to focus on eventing. From 2007-2010, she was the full-time manager of Bascule Farm.
In 2009, she started teaching and training in addition to managing. By 2010 her schedule had gotten so busy that she gave up managing to take on teaching and training full-time. Suz was a full-time trainer at Bascule from 2010 to the spring of 2012.
Suz is a positive instructor who works well with both kids and adults as well as trains many of her clients’ horses on a regular basis. She really enjoys starting both riders and horses from the ground up. She is USEA ICP Level I-Training instructor certification and is looking forward to obtaining her Level II certification in the future!
Suz is currently competing her horse, Korbin, at the Intermediate level and also has a young OTTB, Art. Art is a lovely young horse who is currently competing at the lower levels but shows great promise for the future!
NATALIE grew up in southern Illinois and started out doing local hunter shows before quickly switching over to eventing and foxhunting. Natalie grew up riding at Le Cheval de Boskeydell in Carbondale, IL under the instruction of Marc and Jill O’Donoghue, and was a member of the Boskeydell Pony Club and Area IV Young Riders Program. Natalie also trained with Ralph Hill when he was based in that area. Upon completing her B.S. in Animal Science with an Equine Specialization from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Natalie headed east in 1997 to be a working student at Olympian Phyllis Dawson’s Windchase with her two horses High-Tech and Phinnian’s Edge. While there, Natalie moved her two horses up to the CCI* and CCI** levels very successfully and was well placed at many area horse trials, CIC’s, and CCI’s.
In 1999 a student of Natalie’s, Liz Patrick, decided to buy her own farm. Natalie helped her get Water’s Edge Farm going from the ground up. Natalie was the trainer/co-manager at Water’s Edge from 1999 – 2009. Natalie continued to train with Phyllis during this time and moved her own horses up to the Advanced level, as well as successfully competing many horses of her own, clients, and of Water’s Edge at all levels. Some of her highlights included winning the Morven Park CIC** and finishing 8th in the Advanced at the Fair Hill Horse Trials. She also had many wins at the prelim level and below and had a highlight of scoring an 18 in dressage with a homebred! Natalie also helped run Water’s Edge Farm’s working student program, and helped to train and compete many of the farm’s sales horses. Natalie had many students from the BN to Intermediate level and was certified in 2004 for the USEA ICP Level III.
In 2009, Natalie decided it was time for a change, and moved over to Bascule Farm to focus more on teaching and training. She worked there as a trainer from the fall of 2009 to the spring of 2012.
Natalie currently has students competing at all levels of eventing and works with all ages of riders. She also helps with the training of her clients’ horses and competes them when needed. Natalie helps her clients formulate a plan for their horses and execute it. She is very dedicated to helping her clients achieve their goals!
In addition to her teaching/training, Natalie also is bringing along some young horses of her own. She is very excited to have My Pumpkin Pie, an offspring of Sam the Petty Judge. ” Sam” a wonderful TB event sire owned by Virginia Benz. Virginia owned Natalie’s first Advanced horse, High-Tech, and has bred and owned many horses for her over the years. We are excited to see what this mare becomes- she is an exceptional mover and jumper and will also make a great broodmare sometime in the future! Natalie also has several OTTB’s that she is bringing along thru the levels as well.
Both Natalie and Suz are always looking to further their education. They both attend the yearly ICP symposiums and regularly train with Phyllis Dawson, Stephen Bradley, Sharon White, Mara DePuy, and Susan Graham White, who are also regular clinicians at Destination Farm.
